2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 6th 2008 Dimensions of European Wealth 2008 For the past 3 years the research group at MDRC has been examining the drivers of affluent and high net worth wealth across Europe, not only in the 27 states of the EU, but also in the neighbouring countries. In the research report on the “Dimensions of European Wealth 2008” we document the size of the HNW sector in 30 European countries and some of the key issues which have affected the HNW sector in the 12 months to January 2008. In summary, • The number of high net worth individuals in the EU grew by 7.41% in 2007 to reach 2,761,300 in January 2008. • Including the non-EU countries of Norway, Russia and the Ukraine increases the European market to 3,055,500. • The largest HNW segment is in the UK where there are some 570,000 individuals with more than $1m in investable assets. • The fastest growing HNW segments are in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland with growth rates of 11.0%, 10.7% and 10.4% p.a. respectively. • The rate of HNW growth across the EU slowed sharply in the second half of 2007 and was negative in Q4 2007.
